Mirovic tirade likely to make Hoppa mad
Friday 27 June, 2008 12:01am
BIG Bob Mirovic has vowed to "humiliate" John Hopoate when the pair clash in a much anticipated showdown on the Gold Coast in September.
After two years of trash talking, Mirovic and Hopoate are set to fight for the Australian heavyweight title at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
More than 5000 fans are expected for the showdown.
"Ever since he decided to start boxing I've been dreaming about this fight, bring it on," said Mirovic, of The Entrance North.
"I've been chasing a fight with him for two years. He'd put crap on me in the media and then not want to fight me.
"Now that he's finally acted like a man and agreed to take me on I'm going to make him look like a fool in the ring.
"People want me to punch the crap out of him and that's what I'll do."
Mirovic, who is trained by former triple world champion Jeff Fenech, can't stand Hopoate.
"He stuck his fingers up players' bums when he was playing rugby league. Who in their right mind would ever consider doing that," said Mirovic, 42.
"He's done that and a lot of other ordinary things. I just can't wait to shut him up and make him look silly.
"I don't just want to knock him out, I want to knock him out of the ring. It's going to be a great night."
Mirovic, the Australian heavyweight champion, said the fight with Hopoate was the first of what he hoped would be three "massive fights" in the next 12 months.
"After Hopoate I want to fight Solomon Haumono before Christmas, then there's talk of former world champion Evander Holyfield coming to fight me in Australia," he said.
"Training with Jeff has made me much stronger. I still believe I can be a world champion."
