The Bureau of Meteorology revealed the mean daily temperature for the month was 21.3C.
This was 0.5C less than April 1999, which previously held the low record of an average 21.8C for the month.
The bureau determines the average daily maximum air temperature for each month and also an annual statistic.
Records date back 27 years.
NSW Bureau of Meteorology climate and technical officer Anna Knight said the bureau predicted that between May and July the Central Coast's maximum daily temperatures would be below the average.
"This doesn't mean Central Coast residents can expect a freezing winter but temperatures may be cooler than previous years," she said.
On April 22 the maximum temperature reached was a chilly 16.5C. The warmest day was April 2, with 28.2C recorded.
The cooler than normal month was also wet.

Last week it was 28.9 per cent and at the same time last year a low 15.2 per cent.
In the past week 2mm of rain fell at Somersby, 2mm at Mardi and 1mm at Mangrove Creek Dam.
